It’s early November and the leaves are falling. Time to see how the MasterShield Gutter Guards are performing.

MasterShield Gutter Guard Performance Update – Fall Season

Leaves and debris just roll off the gutter guards. The gutters are clean and like new after 11 months on the house:

This side of the garage roof is below a roof valley that channels a lot of leaves onto the gutters. Leaves are on the porch roof, but not the MasterShield Gutter Guards:

Looking down the garage gutter, no debris! (Don’t let the leaf-free yard mislead you – I’ve mowed with a bagging mower to clean up the mess.)

The gutter guards are performing well along the front of the house:

A minor amount of roof tar build up is visible on the stainless steel mesh below the satellite dish. This section of gutter guard is located below a high flow roof valley. The roof is about 1-1/2 years old and asphalt washes off the cut ends of the shingles, but otherwise no problems:

The gutter guards are clean after a windy day and heavy falling leaves:

MasterShield Gutter Guards: High Roof

Remember that section of high roof that requires a 40 foot ladder to reach the gutters? This photo was taken when the old gutters and screens were being removed to install the MasterShield last January:

Here’s that same section of high roof with the MasterShield Gutter Guards. The MasterShield looks like new with no leaves or debris. This section of roof receives a lot of dead branches and twigs and I was happy to see there’s no damage to the stainless steel mesh.

To take the above photo I mounted the camera on a tripod, stepped out the 2nd floor window and stood on the small roof. I set the camera timer and held the tripod over my head while holding onto the window frame.

MasterShield Gutter Guard Advantages

The things I like about the MasterShield Gutter Guard are:

  • No more clogged gutters or gutter cleaning.
  • No more hiring gutter cleaning companies who slide on the shingles and do a poor job with leaf blowers.
  • Leaves, seeds and debris wash right off.
  • Handles heavy rain with no overshoot.
  • Keeps even small debris including seeds and pine needles of the gutters.
  • Squirrels and birds can’t get inside the gutter.
  • No more leaves stacking up on the roof.

The only maintenance item has been to wipe off the asphalt and springtime pollen buildup from the stainless steel mesh screen at small areas directly beneath three high flow roof valleys. MasterShield will clean the asphalt at no charge per the “no clog guarantee“. After I saw how they did the job, I’ve been doing it myself twice a year because the effected areas are easy to reach and it only takes a few minutes. I rather do this minor maintenance knowing the debris isn’t making a sticky mess inside the gutter.

Until next time,
